FDP on Curriculum Planning, Development and Implementation

Osmania University is introducing model curriculum prescribed by AICTE with effect from 2018-19. Many changes are contemplated in the new curriculum. In this connection a two day faculty development programme is organized by IQAC to know the details of the curriculum and its implementation. Dean Faculty of Engineering is the chief guest and also the external resource person. He on the first day, after the inauguration highlighted the main features of the of the Model Curriculum to be implemented in all the affiliated engineering colleges, as suggested by AICTE. The main features that are included are: Choice Based Credit system; introduction of Engineering Sciences courses, Humanities and , Sciences courses, Mandatory courses like Indian Constitution, Indian Traditional Knowledge, Biological Sciences etc. The curriculum also includes compulsory internship, project work, field visits, Open electives and core electives. All the Heads of the departments and faculty participated in the discussions. After the Deanâ€™s presentation faculty were divided into branch wise groups and discussed about the implications of the implementation of model curriculum and necessary requirement for teaching and laboratories. The outcome of these meetings is documented and submitted to the management.
